Who we are

Although labels are limiting, sometimes they are helpful. Here are a few that describe us:

  • We are first, part of the Body of Christ (Globally)
  • Reformed
  • We are an EPC Church.
  • Local and Incarnational
  • Christ-like- we believe that we are empowered to be imitators of Christ, demonstrating faith, hope, and love to the world. Therefore, we strive to live like Jesus.
  • Scriptural – we believe that the Bible is the living Word of God. Therefore, we seek to know it, understand it, and live out the truths that we find in it.
  • Prayerful – we believe that prayer is powerful. Therefore, we will pray so that God may change us to conform to his image and will.
  • Relational – we believe that relationships are the primary vehicle for the Holy Spirit to work in this world. Therefore, we seek to build relationships so that we may broaden and deepen the work of the Spirit.
  • Incarnational – we believe that the Spirit of Christ dwells in us, and we should imitate Christ by going and living among people. Therefore, we will place ourselves in the midst of the world wherever God calls us.
  • Missional – we believe that we are sent by God into the world to share the gospel. Therefore, we will expect to be sent all over the globe, even to the neighborhoods next door.
  • Apostolic – we believe that we are ordained with gifts and graces to love and serve God and the world. Therefore, we strive to know our gifts and graces so that we might use them excellently and wisely.
  • Welcoming - we believe that there is not one person on earth that is outside of the grace of God. Therefore, it is of great value to us to love and serve all of those that we encounter.
  • Denominational - we believe that though no denomination has it all right, that there is a tribe that we fit well with. The EPC gives us a framework that helps us express the life that Christ has given us, and keeps us part of an accountable community of like-minded followers who are themselves, trying to follow in the Way of Christ .
  • Compassionate – we believe that there is great hurt and injustice in the world. Therefore, we value being the healing hands of Christ that seek to care for and comfort the hurting. And we value being the passionate hands of Christ that seek to go to, serve, love, and seek justice for the oppressed.
  • Learning – we believe that we are called to have the mind of Christ. Therefore, we seek to renew our minds and learn so that God might use them for the advancement of the Kingdom.
  • Hospitable – we believe that Christ came into the world and lived, ate, celebrated, and mourned with people. Therefore, we should imitate him by inviting people to share our lives.
  • Creative – we believe that God is the Creator and that there is a measure of that quality in us. Therefore, we value art, craft, and skill, believing that they can demonstrate a characteristic of God.
  • Spiritual – we believe that we are both material and spiritual. Therefore, we seek to live lives that are sensitive to not only the physical world but the spiritual world, as well.
